Hello and welcome to the Daily Me. There's a new take on the Daily Five playing with the name a little bit. The idea of this exercise is to help us reflect on how we are feeling with regards to different things happening in our lives. And so the topic I wanted to talk about today and the format of the exercise is going to be, how do you feel when you think about blank and the blanks are going to relate to protecting and being protected?

So the purpose of this exercise today is to, really try to understand the variety of things that we are feeling in, the variety of context that happen in relationship to protecting someone or being protected and how it may, differ or be similar in terms of how we're feeling across the spectrum.

Um what I want you to do if possible, is to answer the question out loud or in your own head. And really it's about practicing getting better at speaking and saying how we're feeling with words, but if you can't say it with the word, it's okay to just feel it in the body and go from there. So easier I think said, they're easier done than said. So I'm gonna get started in a second here and then we'll reflect at the end, Alright, ready, get started in just a minute.

How do you feel when you think about protecting someone?

How do you feel when you think about, being obligated to protect someone.

How do you feel when you think about voluntarily protecting someone?

How do you feel when you think about protecting someone from a stranger?

How do you feel when you think about protecting someone from there? The romantic partner?

How do you feel when you think about protecting someone from there employer?

How do you feel when you think about somebody protecting you from your parent?

How do you feel when you think about somebody protecting you from your romantic partner?

How do you feel when you think about somebody protecting you from a stranger?

How do you feel when you think about physically protecting someone?

How do you feel when you think about emotionally protecting someone?

How do you feel when you think about jumping into an emotional fight?

How do you feel when you think about jumping into a physical fight.

And how do you feel when you think about someone else jumping in to stand up for you?

Okay, that's the end of the exercise. I'm curious how that went for you. The idea really is to step back a little bit and reflect on this, because I think a lot of our emotional relationships with others, can have an expectation or a hope that people will protect us and we will protect them. And I think sometimes when that doesn't happen, maybe we can feel angry or confused or sad and when it does happen we can feel really proud. But I'm curious just to explore the range of emotions that we might feel in these scenarios. So I'm going to make a daily we exercise that goes deeper. Talking about when somebody doesn't protect us or blames us for not protecting them. So if you're interested in that, I'd love to have you on board talk soon.
